I’ve always dreamed of going to Colorado. The surreal landscape, immersiveness into nature and super chill vibes of course; it just seemed right up my alley! So naturally, as I researched Instagram for the best places to visit in Colorado for a relaxing weekend getaway, I came across Beaver Creek Lodge. And man, did it not disappoint.
Where to even start! Beaver Creek Lodge was so much more special than I could ever have imagined it to be. But real quick, let’s start back to when we landed. While Beaver Creek is about 30 minutes from Eagle Airport, we decided to arrive at the Denver International Airport and rent a car instead. While Denver airport is more like 2 hours away, this was honestly one of the best decisions we made on our trip. As two first time visitors, we got to experience one of the most beautiful drives up into the mountains. For those of you who don’t know, Beaver Creek is at an elevation of about 8,000 ft., that’s pretty dang high! So we stopped at a couple rest stops and admired the bobbling creeks and majestic mountains, which only got golder and grander as we made our way up. I find this to be one of the best ways to explore different parts of a place. Plus, having a car gave us the freedom to move around as we pleased.
Upon arrival at Beaver Creek Lodge, we were greeted with the friendliest staff. The Valet who graciously helped us with the car, as well as the front desk staff who welcomed us with complimentary champagne! If you know me, you know I’m ALL about the details, and this detail was just what we needed. We then made it to our room, which was gorgeous and so cozy to say the least. After settling in for a bit, we finally made it out into the village.
I hadn’t completely understood how it worked before we arrived, but what we came to learn is that Beaver Creek Lodge is actually a part of the larger Beaver Creek Village. And, Beaver Creek Village is comprised of a ton of hotels, condos, private homes, and it’s very own shops, restaurants, bars and activities, all inside the village. It was absolutely incredible. We never even had to leave the village, as everything was right there and within walking distance! Plus, the architecture was SO quaint and charming. Walking through the little village alleyways felt like you could be in a different version of Europe!
Sean and I spent our days walking around, exploring the cute local shops and making the most of the incredible views of nature flowing throughout the entire resort. Literally anywhere we walked, we heard the sound of running water. And at any turn, we were bound to stumble upon a hidden creek or river. The entire place was just magical. Something we really thought made the place extra special was the sense of community there. All throughout the village, there were areas for people to just sit, chat, play lawn games etc. We even met a couple friends over a game of corn hole!
One of the nights, we dined at Beaver Creek Lodges’ restaurant, Alpine + Antlers, and OMG was it amazing. Sean and I both agreed it was the best meal of our entire trip. We ordered a couple drinks and an alpine cheese dip to start, and shared the duck breast + chicken as our entrees. Delicious just doesn’t even cover it. Honestly, it was probably one of the best meals we’ve had in awhile. And…coming from a French family, we know our duck! Overall, it was such a great experience. We would love to go back, and maybe next time bring friends or family up to try skiing!
